FIFTY YEARS MARRIED
MR AND MRS NASH’S ANNIVERSARY
Mr Walter Nash, Leader of the Opposition, and Mrs Nash, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday with a quiet family gathering. Mr and Mrs Nash have lived for 26 years in the pleasant garden-sur-rounded bungalow in Lower Hutt where their home is now. They came to New Zealand from England with their eldest child about 48 years ago. Their eldest grandson celebrated his coming-of-age in February. Of their two surviving sons, Mr Leslie Nash lives in Napier and Mr James Nash in Lower Hutt. There are three granddaughters and seven grandsons. The two years spent in Washington when Mr Nash established the New Zealand legation there were happy ones for Mrs Nash. She recalled that one headline that greeted them in a Washington newspaper was “Why do we like the Nashes —because they are natural.” Both' she and Mr Nash thought this one of the nicest compliments that could be paid to them.
