Y.W.C.A. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
PLANS FOR YOUTH CAMP AT SPENCERVILLE
A joint committee of Spencerville residents and members of the board of directors of the Young Women's Christian Association was formed yesterday afternoon, at a meeting of the board of directors, to organise activities at the Y.W.C.A. youth camp at Spencerville. A country library service to the camp will be one of the services. Miss J. Holderness presided at the meeting.
Miss R. Barlee said that plans for the Easter camp, which will start on Thursday night, include lectures on leadership and committee procedure, and a study from one of Dorothy Sayers’s plays in "The Man Born to be King.” She reported that donations to the camp had included a wireless set. The association had benefited by £l6 8s from, the National Council of Women’s fair held in Latimer Hall, it was reported. Miss B. J. Hardie (general secretary) outlined the programme for the World Membership Day on April 26. A talk by Miss T. Hudson, a Dunedin delegate to the World Council of the Y.W.C.A.. a travel film, a ballet, and enrolment of new members would be included on the programme, she said
It was decided to send a message to the Wellington association congratulating it on the laying of the foundation stone for a new hostel. The stone will be laid by Lady Mountbatten on March 28.
