DEVELOPMENT OF UNIVERSITY

APPOINTMENTS TO COMMITTEE

Three members of the Canterbury University College Council to represent it on the special development committee for the college were appointed at a meeting yesterday. They are the Rector (Drr F. J. Llewellyn) and Messrs S. J. Irwin and D. Mackay. At its last meeting, the council decided that the committee would be set up to deal with the siting of new buildings at Riccarton and the opening up of the property for university purposes, the allocation of space vacated on the central site, and the need for any extra buildings which may be needed centrally if rising rolls overtake the rate of transfer to Riccarton.

It was also decided that the composition of the committee should be three from the council, three appointed by the council from Professorial Board nominations, and the chairman of the cc\incil ex officio.
