Wool Dispute Settled
(Rec. 8 p.m.) DURBAN, October 20. The Durban wool dispute was settled today, when the temporary suspension of all wool sales in South Africa was lifted. Brokers and buyers came to an agreement after an emergency meeting lasting nearly four hours. The dispute between buyers and brokers arose as a result of new regulations which forbade buyers to cut wool bales, except at the ends or at seams. Buyers maintained that this did not allow them an adequate inspection of the wool. Suspension of sales was announced yesterday, after buyers in Port Elizabeth boycotted a sale of wool worth about £420.000 because of the new regulations. , , Nearly 8000 bales of wool prepared for inspection at Port Elizabeth yesterday were left in the wool stores until marketing resumed.
