Fire Sprinkler Duties.—Duties on fire sprinkler systems and pearl barley are not to be altered. Announcing this, the Minister of Customs (Mr D. J. Eyre) said that the decision was taken by the Government on the recommendation of the Board of Trade after public tariff inquiries. It had also been decid ?d that there would be no change in the import licensing status of these goods, so that fire sprinkler systems would continue to be exempt when the product of non-scheduled countries, and pearl barley would continue to be subject to control.—(P.A.)
