PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Waimairi County Council, at a Special Meeting convened for the purpose and held in the Council Chambers, Papanui, on the 20th October, 1955, resolved by way of Special Resolution to make a By-law the short title of which is "The Waimairi County By-law, 1955, No. 3,” the object and purport of such By-law being as follows: To amend Clause 701 of Part VII of the County Building By-laws by adding to the proviso contained in Clause 701 thereof the words Clause 727. Clause 727 prohibits the use of wood shingles as roof covering on all buildings. PURSUANT to Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, the lighting of fires in the open air is prohibited throughout the whole of the Waitaki Soil Conservation District. This prohibition does not apply to fires in well constructed camp fireplaces situated 10 feet from trees or other combustible material. (Grass and other combustible material must be cleared for 10 feet around the fireplace and fires completely extinguished before leaving the site.)
