U.S. PHILATELIC AWARD

CERTIFICATE PRESENTED TO DR. H. T. JENNINGS

A certificate of distinction awarded by the American Philatelic Society was presented to Dr. H. Turner Jennings, president of the Christchurch Philatelic Society, at a meeting of the society. The award was for a collection of New Zealand pictorial issues from 1935 to 1947. which were exhibited by Dr. Jennings at the New Zealand International Stamp Exhibition in Auckland in July. Mr R. J. G. Collins made the presentation. Mr L. Vernazoni presented a cup to the society in memory of the late Mr A. W. Cousens, who was for many years a member of the society. The cup* was presented to the president and will be presented annually to each subsequent president. An address on the relation of medicine to philately was later given by Dr. Jennings, who mentioned the many pioneers of medicine who had been commemorated in postage stamps.
