VISIT OF PROFESSOR ROBERT PLATT
POST-GRADUATE COURSE IN CHRISTCHURCH 7 Professor Robert Plat*, professor of medicipe at Manchester University, arrived in Christchurch yesterday to Conduct a two-weeks’ post-graduate course at the Christchurch Hospital. His visit has been arranged by the visiting staff at the hospital. At the end of the month Professor Platt will visit Dunedin, and will later conduct a post-graduate course at Wellington before returning to the United Kingdom. Professor Platt, who is 55, served with the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Second World War, attaining the rank of brigadier. He is editor of the "Quarterly Journal of Medicine" and a member of the MedicalResearch Council His chief interest outside his profession is music. Playing the ’cello in a string quartet is one of his recreations. He is a member of the Council of 'the. Royal Manchester College of Music and chairman of the Manchester Chamber Concerts Society.
