Circus Elephant Pounds Groom

(Rec. 10 p.m.) GLASGOW, June 25. A trumpeting circus elephant wrapped her trunk round a groom in a circus in Glasgow today and pounded him on the ground for several minutes. The groom was rushed to hospital badly bruised, and with a long gash in a leg where he had been caught by a tusk. With another groom, he had been working in a tent with 16. elephants when Blackie, a 10-year-old Indian female, suddenly seized Mijne and swept him aloft and brought him down heavily several times. She released her grip and the other groom dragged Milne free.
