Montgomery Predicts Era Of Peace
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, June 25. Field-Marshal Lord Montgomery, Deputy Allied Supreme Commander in Europe, forecast today that there would be no atomic war “in any foreseeable future.” He added: “I believe that our children will be able to grow up decent citizens in a peaceful world.’’ Lord Montgomery was in London to lay the foundation stone for a new £15,000 church hall to be built in memory of his father, Bishop Montgomery, who was vicar of St. Mark’s, near London’s famous Kennington Oval cricket ground.
