Lieutenant-Commander .G. M. Holden, staff officer at Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve headquarters, H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus, has been appointed First Lieutenant of if M.N.Z.S. Philomel, Auckland. He will leave Christchurch on May 3. No successor to Lieutenant-Commander Holden, who is also officer-in-charge of the anti-submarine school and shore base at H.M.N.Z.S. Tasman, and resident naval officer at Lyttelton, has been announced.
Mr H. M. Marshall, official secretary at the Australian High Commission in Wellington, has been appointed Consul-General in San Francisco. Mr O. L. Davis will replace him as actingAustralian High Commissioner to New Zealand.—Canberra, April 21.
Reference to the death of Mr T. Rees, a former foreman and employee of the council, was made by the chairman, Mr W. F. Walter, at a meeting of the Waimairi County Council last evening. Councillors stood in silence as a mark of respect.
