DIAM OND HARBOUR COMMUNITY CENTRE

Sir—lt would seem that returned servicemen were forgotten when the Diamond Harbour community centre was opened last week. On the opening day no provision was made for former servicemen, their wives, children, and old identities of the trans-harbour district. Bad manners were to the fore; persons with little or no connexion with the building of the hall pushed forward and many returned servicemen were not even in the hall when the roll of honour was unveiled. What a contrast to the dignified ceremony Rotherham had for the opening of its memorial baths.— Yours, etc., KIWI. April 11, 1955. [The secretary of the Diamond Harbour Burgesses’ Association (Mrs E. F. H. Paine) said yesterday that the association had no comment to make qb this letter.]
