—• RECRUITING MAY END NEXT WEEK (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. April M. Recruiting for New Zealand's Special Air Service for Malaya would end about April 22, Army headquKrtttS in Wellington announced this afternoon. By that time the Army expeptsjto h*ve enough applicants to choose from. The Minister of Defence/ (Mr T. L Macdonald) has already announced that between 150 and 200 men will be required for the S.A-.S. Squadron. However, as it will be an elite corps, the Army wants plenty of recruits to choose from. , . Testing of applicants is continuing the various army area headquarter® throughout New Zealand. . The final selection of men for AW squadron should be complete by April 30—a week after the recnnuM campaign ends. . The Army was not able to say tow how many men would be enlisted tor the squadron. By this afternoon, Army headquMjers had received—through iw w? headquarters—43s applications fßr wr* vice in Malaya. After the first rushed days of the campaign, recrw ing is slackening off considerably.
