WEST COAST COURSES INSPECTED West Coast racecourses were inspected this week by a group of executive members of the New Zealand Racing Conference. The visitors included the president of the conference (Mr H. R. Chalmers), five members of the executive committee— Messrs H. H. Smith (Hawke’s Bay), R. T. Sewell (Wanganui), G. M. Fraser (Taranaki), G. H. Grigg (Canterbury), and W. Grieve (Southland) —and the secretary (Mr A. M. Mcßeath). The party was at Westport for the second day of the Westport Jockey Club’s meeting last Monday, and inspected course facilities. Other courses inspected were Reef ton, Kumara, Hokitika, and Omoto. Swab from Patrls Negative A report received from the Racing Conference by the Gore Racing Club says that the swab taken from Patris, winner of the Summer High-weight Handicap on the first day of the club’s two-day summer meeting, has proved negative.— (P.A.)
