TOWN HALL SITE

Sir,—l am an ardent supporter of those who prefer the “Limes” site for our prospective town hall, providing there is sufficient space for the buildings required, and I would put forward the following idea. The chief obstacle to building on this site appears to be the lack of room for administrative offices. One way of overcoming this would be to continue the building across Colombo street, and into that area of street and garden plot fronting the river; forming an archway over Colombo street just over the bridge. This piece of Cambridge terrace would be useless if. the “Limes” plot extending to the river front were used. The building would probably need to narrow at the archway and widen out the other side.—Yours.'etc., BEBE. February 24, 1955.
