ROAD ACCOUNT SURPLUS

Sir,—lt came as no surprise to many people that there is a surplus of £2,000,000 in the road account. We motor-cyclists don’t wonder when we have to pay such exorbitant fees, which are out of all proportion to the damage our mounts do. With the terrific charges we pay, it would be easy to issue us with free safety helmets! Instead of hounding us the Minister of Transport would be better occupied hurrying up many of the slow coaches holding up traffic.—Yours, etc., EL CAPITAN. Hastings, February 20, 1955.
