Mr T. D. Lennie, president of the New Zealand Organic Compost Society, will leave Christchurch on February 14 to begin the North Island section of his Dominion-wide tour to publicise the desirability of municipal composting of town wastes. He will visit Marton, Wangaaui, New Plymouth, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Napier, Hastings, Dannevirke, Palmerston North, and Wellington. Mr Frank Cooper, a trust officer of the Public Trust Office, who has retired after 40 years’ service was presented with a cheque at a staff function this week.

Mr F. H. Wright was appointed by the board of governors of the Christchurch West High School last evening to represent the board on the Christchurch Post-primary Schools’ Council. He succeeds Professor N. C. Phillips, who is abroad. Mr J. G. Johnston, who will leave on March 1 for a trip to Britain and Europe, was granted leave of absence until the expiry of his term by the Board of Governors of the Christchurch Technical College last evening.
