DIVINE HEALING OF DISEASE
CURES CLAIMED BY REV. J. F. ELLIS
SPHERES OF MEDICINE AND CHURCH DEFINED
I am convinced that the time is coming when the medical profession and ministers of the Church will work together in Divine healing to cure the physical, mental, and spiritual diseases of man,” said the Rev. J. F. Ellis at a meeting of the Divine Healing Fellowship. “Doctors say that 50 per cent, of the sick people today are suffering from diseases of the mind, attributable to the fast pace of modern life/’ he said. “Psychotherapists can find the cause of diseases of the mind, which are psychological in origin, but the cure of these emotional disturbances and wrong thinking belongs to ministers of religion.”
The laying on of hands in healing was a commission from Christ as imperative as the command to go out and preach the Gospel, he said. Speaking of his experiences in Britain with Divine healing groups, Mr Ellis said he had only twice seen what could be called miracle cures, but in every case there was a remarkable change in the nature and outlook of the patient. Divine laying-on of the hands brought a healing of the spirit which eventually affected the body, he said. Mr Ellis told of many cures of physical diseases which eventually came after a course of Divine healing. Once cured this way patients never suffered recurrences.
In his approach to the work he did not emphasise physical cure but rather featured the important point of “getting in touch with Christ for the healing of body and soul,” said Mr Ellis.
