AIRLINE CABIN ATTENDANTS
N.A.C. CONSIDERING EMPLOYMENT ADVICE SOUGHT FROM OVERSEAS (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 24. The National Airways Corporation is considering the use of cabin attendants on its Dakota flights throughout New Zealand. Mr J. J. Busch, general manager of the corporation, has written to airline operators overseas asking for advice. He said today that the possibility of employing attendants, generally air hostesses, had often been raised in the past, but no decision had been made because of the economic factors and the short duration of most flights. The corporation already employed air hostesses for duty at airports, but they did not travel in aircraft, Mr Busch said. If it was decided to employ attendants, they would not necessarily be air hostesses, but might be male pursers or flight clerks. In any event, if the corporation decided that attendants should travel in aircraft, it would take several months to recruit and train suitable persons, said Mr Busch.
