Tactician should be improved by the race he had at Ashburton, and he may be placed. Johnny Globe, Au Revoir, Adonan, and Gay Lyric are others expected to race well. The scratching of Fair Annette in the Members’ Handicap leaves a field of seven to contest the second leg of the double. The consistent Speed King, which was narrowly beaten by Lassoloc at Forbury Park on October 16, will meet Lassoloc on 12 yards more favourable terms today, and he should beat her. Macall ran a sound race from his long handicap mark to finish not far from the leaders in the George Bruce Memorial Handicap on the first day of the meeting, when making his first appearance for the season. He should be improved by that run, and off the front today must oe respected.

Lassoloc and King’s Order are expected to do best of the others. Ohio has been withdrawn from the Hannon Memorial Handicap. The following horses will be bracketed: Meadowbank Handicap: Hazel Grattan, Russell Grattan, and Young Atlas. President’s Handicap: Nil Desperanum and Master Tony.
