RETURN TO U.S. FROM AUSTRALIA

The American professional golfer, Ed Furgol, has been told by a panel of doctors that he will be unable to .play for some months because of a ruptured muscle in the right arm, and he will return home by air on Sunday. Furgol, who came to Australia with the American team for the golf tournament, will be replaced by either Chandler Harper or Dave Douglas, two leading United States professionals. Meanwhile, it has been announced that the British Open winner, Peter Thomson, will not be available for the international team to play the United States at Perth on October 30 and 31, and at Sydney on November 5 and 6, because he is going to New Zealand next Wednesday to appear in exhibition matches and in an attempt to win his fourth New Zea* lancT- Open. The Australian team against the Americans will now be: Ossie Pickworth (captain), Norman von Nida, Kel Nagle, and Jim Mclnnes, who was runner-up to Nagle in the last Professional Golfers Association championship.
