Nazi Infiltration In Germany

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BONN, September 21. A leading West Garman trade unionist said today that Nazi infiltration into public offices in West Germany had grown as serious as on the eve of Hitler’s seizure of power in 1933. Mr Adolph Kummernuss, chairman of the Public Services and Transport Union, one oi Germany’s largest unions, said it was not important/that there was no sizeable Nazi party, for the Nazis had infiltrated everywhere in administration and industry. If the present tolerance of former Nazis continued, “we shall one day find ourselves exactly where we were in 1933,” he said.

Mr Kummernuss. addressing the Foreign Press Association, said he believed the threat of Nazi infiltration would increase once West Germany was rearmed. He deeply regretted the Government was doing so little to combat the threat. The German Trade Union Federation, with nearly 7.000,000 members, was today the political conscience of German democracy,” he said. Young members went to special classes where they were taught democracy and made immune to Nazi influences.
