COURT-MARTIAL OF LANCE-CORPORAL
REDUCTION TO RANKS AND DETENTION IMPOSED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 10. A court-martial at Fort Dorset today found Arthur John Walker guilty of neglect to the prejudice of good order and military discipline. He was found not guilty of neglecting to obey camp routine orders. He was found to have shown neglect to the prejudice of good order and military discipline by being in the "junior ranks” quarters when a civilian female was also present and that he failed to take proper action for her removal, which was his duty as an N.C.O. When the defending officer (Lieutenant C. N. Ogg) made his submissions this morning, he told the Court: “This case, it is hoped, is the last of a series dealing with a similar incident.” Walker was sentenced to-be reduced to the ranks, and to 40 days’ detention.
