Half-Profile Pictures In Newspapers (Rec. 10J0 p.m.) LONDON, August 21. Princess Margaret, aged 24, today broke the Royal Family tradition by having glamorous half-profile pictures of herself in British newspapers instead of the usual full-length Royal birthday portraits. Photographs were printed in nearly every newspaper. Some show her wearing a patterned white organza dress with a sailor collar and petting her favourite Sealyham puppy. Pippin. The vivacious young sister of the Queen is spending her birthday quietly at Balmoral in accordance with Royal tradition. • Early this morning she was awakened by her nephew, Prince Charles, and her niece, Princess Anne, dancing into the room in their dressing gowns. They were first in with their presents and a birthday hug for their favourite “Aunt Margot:” Florists’ vans brought dozens of bouquets for the Princess. Many greetings telegrams were delivered early in the morning. One came from the Duke of Edinburgh.’now on the Royal yacht Britannia, returning from Canada. After breakfast, the Princess began unwrapping presents from the Queen and other members of' the Royal Family and from the tenants of Balmoral. The Princess was going for a picnie with the Royal Family on the moors near Balmoral this afternoon if the weather was fine. In the evening it is the custom to mark the Princess’s birthday with a giant bonfire in nhe castle grounds.
