PRESS COMMENT IN BRITAIN
(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 12. The British Labour delegation’s visit to Russia and China continues to arouse comment in British newspapers. The “News Chronicle” says today: “With flowers for Dr. Summerskill and dinners with Mr Malenkov, the deepest American suspicions are being dreadfully confirmed. These British Labour leaders can be up to no possible good in Moscow.” The “News Chronicle” added, however, “we know Communists will bend over backwards to impress the Labour leaders. But these British Socialists are no fools. In Britain we have confidence in them and in Mr Attlee in particular.”
