Miss Eliza Agnes O’Shea, who died in Dunedin recently, after a long illness, was a pioneer member of .the Child Welfare Department. Born in Dunedin, Miss O’Shea was educated there and later entered the Training College, where she graduated as a teacher. Her first teaching post was at Luggate, and later she taught at many schools in and around Dunedin, and finally joined the executive branch of the Education Department. When she retired she was head of her department in the Wellington office.
