RUGBY FOOTBALL REPORTS

Sir,-—An “Anti Vincent Campaign”? What childish nonsense! I ask your correspondents to produce what any unbiased spectator would not say was a fair newspaper summary of the performances of Vincent and Creedy in any club game this year. Who can honestly think that Vincent has not lost form? To point to the performances of their respective teams is valueless. Old Boys, a very strong team, should not have drawn or. lost one game; yet they did, and had some narrow escapes. (Remember their first game against Marist when, securing 95 per cent, of the ball, they failed to score a try, despite their “general.” Marist, but a shadow of the team of other years, did well to get third and, unquestionably, have mainly Creedy and Stuart to thank. Vincent and Creedy, obviously fine sportsmen, are doubtless amused by this correspondence corcerning their merits. Good luck to both.—Yours, etc., THE TRUTH HURTS. August 12, 1954.
