Plane With Speed Of 9900 M.P.H. Planned

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) INNSBRUCK, Aug. 7. A German rocket scientist has drawn up plans for a new rocket-propelled plane, which, he claims, can climb 37 miles above the earth and reach a speed of 9900 miles an hour —14 times that of sound.

Dr. Walter Dornberger, former military director of Hitler’s Peenemunde research station, who helped develop the war-time V2 rocket weapon, said that plans for the new plane were drawn up on orders of the United States Government. The plane could be launched from a mother plane, which would carry it about 16 miles above the earth before releasing it. It would travel so fast it would be unable to change direction, Dr. Dornberger said.
