INCREASE IN ASSURANCE BENEFIT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 10. The Cabinet had approved an increase from £750 to £lOOO in the maximum amount of the assurance benefit which friendly societies might grant their members, said the Minister in charge of Friendly Societies (Mr W. H. Fortune) today. Legislation to increase the benefit would be introduced in this session of Parliament, said the Minister.
