MILE EVENT AT GAMES

LANDY SUFFERED FEET INJURIES

(Rec. 10 pjn.) VANCOUVER, Aug. 9. A Canadian, Dr. Kenneth Young, today said that Australia’s miler, John Landy, ran the Empire Games “miracle mile” on Saturday with two ‘painful” cuts in his feet. Dr. Young treated the injuries. • Landy lost the race to the Englishman, Roger Bannister, after a last-lap tussle, but both runners broke four minutes for the distance. Landy kept his cuts a secret because he did not want “undue sympathy or support” from the Vancouver crowd. Dr. Young said. “He is really a very wonderful chap.” Earlier today Landy denied Canadian Press reports that he had anything seriously wrong With his feet.
