VETERINARY CLUB MEETING
SUBSCRIPTION RATE FOR BANKS PENINSULA The annual meeting of the Banks Peninsula Farmers’ Veterinary Club was held at Duvauchelle recently when more than 60 farmers discussed the basis for subscriptions. The Director of Veterinary Services (Mr A. Leslie) told the meeting that the council was ready to help the club if district farmers showed by their interest that they were keen to see the club a success.
After a three-hour discussion on subscriptions, it was decided to adopt a fiat rate subscription of £5 a year, plus a visit fee of £2 10s and no charge for mileage. Far small farmers the subscription will be based on 10s or 10 sheep, to a maximum of
It was decided to send a circular to every farmer in the club’s district, pointing out that the club would have to have a membership of 250 to remain in operation. In the event of 250 members not being available, a further meeting will be held to consider the future of the club. The chairman (Mr F. G. Harris) said that the club would not get a permanent veterinarian until it had provided a house and pharmacy, and the executive was authorised to consider the question. The financial statement showed a loss of j£29 0s 3d. The following executive was elected:—Messrs P. G. Markham, R. Acton-Adams, E. Scott Craw, J. Boleyn, lan Menzies, V. A. Shadbolt, R. W. Armstrong, T. A. McKellar and I. S. Kay, with power to add one from Little River.
