ANGLICAN CHURCH WORSHIP
Unity In Book Of Common Prayer (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 8 P’ m jJ nNNEAPOLIS Augurt t i The World Anglican Congress at its meeting tonight affirmed the principles of Anglican worship in a preliminary draft report on the closed group deliberations of its delegates dealing with the subject of "our worship." These principles, it said, must be “scriptural in theology, intelligible and audible in language and corporate in expression." A revised statement which will incorporate the changes requested by individual delegates and approved by a majority of the Congress will be issued after the conference. The draft said that “The Book of Common Prayer is a principal bond of unity throughout the different churches of the Anglican Communion. ; 3 “We agree that in any diocese when more than one language is in use, n far as possible the liturgy should follow a common form and so unite the people of various languages and races.’ The draft urged that “in our worship we must not neglect the evangelistic and educational task of the Church both toward its own members and toward those who are unfamiliar with, our worship." It said that "since the Book of Common Prayer reflects the Church’s responsibility for social and moral welfare and is concerned with birth, mar-, riage, death, sickness and health, education and good government, social justice and the remedy for sin, these features should be carefully preserved in every revision." The statement emphasised that T» all educational and evangelistic work of the Church we commend to the attention of the churches the specie! problems and opportunities afforded by radio and television."
