PREDICTION BY SCIENTIST

“All Life Perished In 2D Years”

SYDNEY, March 19. Dr. John Blatt, a nuclear physicist at the Sydney University, said last night he was afraid that all life on earth would perish within the next 20 years. 'Dr. Blatt said he feared the world could not adjust itself to the social and moral problems of the atomic? age. “I am pessimistic about the complicated problems which face the modern world, and I think a big chance exists that we will all be dead in 20 years,” Dr. Blatt told an audience in the Synagogue in Sydney. “If enough atomic bombs are exploded the resultant • radio-activity could poison everything on earth. “We must, however, go on fighting to have atomic power used for peaceful means, and not for destruction.” Dr. Blatt said that enough atomic bombs already existed to destroy all existence. The head of the School of Physics at Sydney University, Professor H. Messel, said the statement that the world would end within 20 years was nonsense.

“We will be here after that,” Professor Messel said.
