ANGLING CONDITIONS FOR WEEK-END
The weather at both Lake Coleridge and Highbank was moderate northwest and clear, according to advice received at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Canterbury Anglers’ Club and the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society.
The condition of toe fishing rivers was reported as follows:
Hurunui, Selwyn. Ashley, Hatswell, WaiaU, and Ashburton, clear and fishable; Waimakariri, dirty and unfishable because of very heavy rains in the Alps; Lower Rakaia, dirty and unfishable, but reports from Highbank and Lake Coleridge on the Upper Rakaia were that the river was clearing, and there was no prospect of rain there last night; Upper Rakaia at Highbank, slightly discoloured, but possibly fishabie; Upper Rakaia at power station at Coleridge, clear and fishable; Rangitata, discoloured, but clearing slightly. Special anglers’ forecast for the week-end: light to moderate north-east winds becoming north-’west on Sunday on the coast with an increase in the high cloud. Inland weather should be moderate to fresh north-west wind ®n Saturday and Sunday, with a possibility of some rain or showers in the foothills. Weather mainly rair.
