SENATOR M’CARTHY

Sir, —May I suggest that to enlighten the minds of your readers, and especially those of most of your correspondents in your “letters to the editor” column, about. Senator McCarthy they go to the small trouble of purchasing a cheap but most informative book published by “Gollancz,” I think entitled “McCarthy, The Man, The Senator, The Ism.” Those for him or against him, especially those “for him,” will then realise what type of person they have been following. Not even McCarthy has had the courage to call its authors Communists. The truth certainly hurts; and he gets it right from the shoulder. Your booksellers in Christchurch may have to get it from under the counter.—Yours, etc., ERIC LEWIS. Wanganui, March 18, 1954.
