BRITAIN’S POSITION TO BE CONSIDERED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 28. The question of maintaining relationships with other States concerned to preserve peace in the Pacific area is one which inevitably is kept under continuous review by the Anzus Pact countries. 4 it was learned from official quarters tonight. This review, it was learned, would naturally include consideration of the position of Britain, which has a special relationship with two of the parties to the Anzus Pact—Australia and New Zealand—through their membership in the British Commonwealth.
At the coming meeting the Ministers are expected to exchange views on a wide range of subjects affecting the security of the Pacific area. This procedure was followed at the last meeting. The Anzus Treaty established a council consisting of the three Foreign Ministers of the Governments concerned, or their deputies, to consider matters concerning the implementation of the treaty. The first meeting of the council was held at Honolulu in August last year, when it was decided that the council would meet annually
