Britain s oil dispute with Persia beaL end of December, 1950, General Razmara’s Government withdrew from the Majlis a supplemental oil agreement with the AngloIranian Oil Company after an investigating commission had given an unfavourable report. General Razmara, who supported the agreement, was assassinated on March 7, 1951 —a prelude to the assumption of power by Dr. Mussadiq. - .Two days after the assassination, the Majlis oil commission voted for the nationalisation law, which the Shah signed in May, 1951. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company’s British staff withdrew from Persia in October, 1951. and the company’s oil refinery at Abadan passed to Persia’s control.
