WITNESSES OF MARRIAGES
Sir, —Would you please tell me if there is an age limit for a witness at a wedding? I nave been told a witness has to be 21 years of age, but I know of cases in which they have been younger.—Yours, etc., WONDERING. August 24, 1953. [When this letter was referred to the Registrar of Marriages (Mr A. A. Besley) he said.: “There is no stipulated age for a witness, but the registrar or officiating minister should be satisfied that a witness is old enough, to understand the nature of the ceremony.”]
