STYX WHITEBAIT

Sir, —Good shoals of whitebait were seen travelling up the Styx last weekend, showing that it does run well in August. Fishing two miles from the mouth of the river and knowing sometimes there are 22 boats and 40 or 50 bank fishermen in front of me, I usually manage to get a good catch, yet the “greedy characters” behind me seem always to exceed niy catch. All fish fences and boat positions are supervised by rangers frequently, so if “Sporting” were to rise at daybreak (without his family, who always manage to scare the fish), and use the same expensive equipment as the hogs at the mouth he would become one of the hogs.—Yours, etc., ANOTHER HOG.
