NEGLIGENT DRIVER CONVICTED
£2O FINE AND LICENCE SUSPENDED FOR YEAR (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, August 28. Albert Henry Baughen pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court at TJmaru today to a charge of driyina negligently at Washdyke on April w. thereby causing injury. He was. convicted and fined £2O, his driven licence was suspended, and he was hibited from obtaining another for • period of one year. Mr E. A. Lee. S.M.. was on tne Bench. Baughen was represented w Mr G. S. Raymond. Senior-Sergeant B. W. Wootton conducted the case w the police. . Senior-Sergeant Wootton said r Thomas Hay was cycling south throu«“ Wash dyke on the night of the accid® Defendant, travelling in the W®. direction, had struck Hay from bennw with his car. As a result df the juries he had received. Hay had sp®. 13 weeks in hospital, and was still dp fit to work. j .In evidence Hay said he had nee riding a racing cycle. There had no rear mudguard on his cycle, ana p. regulation strip of white at the rear » the machine.
