AUSTRALIA NEEDS 253 TO WIN (Rec. 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 28. The tail-enders of the Gentlemen of England XI collapsed when the match against Australia was resumed today, and only added 12 runs to the overnight second innings score of 237 for seven. The Australians now need only 253 runs in 270 minutes to win. Lindwall took five wickets for 68. He has now taken 82 wickets on th© tour —four behind his 1948 tour total. With the second new ball. Miller and Lindwall bowled with all their old fir© in an 85 minutes’ spell to stumps during the second innings of Gentlemen of England at Lord’s yesterday. It was a great effort by both bowler© at the end of a day in the field, and with the rigours of a hard tour behind them. In the Gentlemen’s second innings. May hit up 50 in 75 minutes.
