PALMERSTON NORTH DETECTIVE (New Zealand Press Assoeiatlonl _ WELLINGTON, July 21. The Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) has announced that the Queen has been pleased to approve the award of the George Medal to Detective Bruce Desmond ChristoffersOn, of the New Zealand Police Force, in recognition of his great courage and devotion to duty at Palmerston North on .November 20, 1952. when endeavouring to arrest a youth suspected of shopbreaking. Detective Christofferson was seriously wounded. Detective Christoffersen joined the Police Force in Wellington in Julv, 1946. He spent some time at Wellington, and was posted to Palmerston North with the rank of detective in July last year. The gunshot wound he suffered at Palmerston North kept him off duty for several months. He was recently transferred to Napier. He is aged 28, married, with three children.
