COST OF LIVING

Sir, —It seems that very soon the Canterbury Housewives’ Union will have to appeal to the public to sign another petition to the Government to hear evidence about the cost of living. I thought it was the constitutional right of any citizen or citizens to petition Parliament against any injustice. One wonders what the Opposition is doing about this. Opposition members are speaking strongly against the Government’s policy on the cost of living. Perhaps Miss Howard will again speak for the housewives and insist that we be heard. —Yours, etc., MAY E. FUREY. July 21, 1953.
