GENE JIMAE
THANKS TO PUBLIC EXPRESSED Public appreciation to the Stavemasters and to all members of the Christchurch harmonica bands which took part in a concert to honour the 10-year-old American harmonica soloist, Gene Jimae, on Sunday evening was expressed in a statement to “The Press” by the boy’s father, Mr James Jimae. Gene Jimae is appearing in the “Hot Ice” revue at the Theatre Royal. “It was an evening that will leave memories for us to cherish for years to come,” said Mr Jimae. “Those who think of the harmonica as a toy or lowly instrument should listen to the Christchurch Harmonica Band. Skipper’s Harmonica Band, the Ace Harmonica Band, and the wonderful Stavemasters. Christchurch should be proud to possess such talented groups,” said Mr Jimae. “I have been negotiating with the Stavemasters to tour Australia with Gene some time next year, but so far nothing is .definitely set,” Mr Jimae concluded.
