DUKE OF EDINBURGH FALLS FROM PONY
MISHAP DURING POLO MATCH _ LONDON, July 19. The Duke of Edinburgh fell when his horse slipped during a polo match today, but he soon continued the game. The Duke was riding his chestnut mare, Turkan—a wedding present from the President of Turkey—in the Junior County Cup final at Ambersham, Sussex. Both the Duke and the horse fell to the ground, but were back on their feet almost immediately. The mare cantered back to the pony paddock and the Duke, shaken and with a few scratches, followed. The crowd applauded as he remounted and continued to play. It was the Duke’s second recorded playi "M P ol °- In April, 1951, with Princess Elizabeth watching, he fell off m a match at Malta. No members of the Royal Family were watching today.
