(Rec. 10 p.m.) HELSINKI, July 19. The American, Mai Whitfield, ran 880 yards in Imin 48.6 sec at Turku, West Finland, last night, breaking the official world record of Imin 49.25ec. which he held with Sydney Wooderson, of Britain.

East German Priest Sentenced.— An East German Court ®t Erfurt in Thuringia today sentenced a priest and three other men to prison terms ranging from six years to six months for their part in the East German riots a month ago. The Court found that the priest had carried on activities hostile to th 6 Government for years, reported the East German news agency.—-Lon-don, July 18.
