LANCASTER PARK
Sir,—“Eyes Opened” must be suffering from a pipe dream if he considers that one, or two at the most, applications in the last 10 years form a threat of trying to get on the park. Possibly he also feels that the hockey and soccer associations constitute a greater threat, for they have had actual use of it twice each in that period for international games. No doubt “Eyes Opened” and his friends will be horrified to know that the All Blacks will play two games of their English tour on professional soccer grounds. Possibly “Eyes Opened” will send a petition to the New Zealand Rugby Union imploring them not »to let the All Blacks commit such sacrilege. The English Rugby Union, regarded as one of the most wealthy sporting bodies in England, apparently cannot even afford to own its own grounds.—Yours, etc., RUGBY A TREIZE. July 17, 1953.
