MISS PEGGY CRIPPS MARRIED

Miss Peggy Cripps, aged 02, a daughter of Sir Stafford Cripps, a former British Chancellor of the Exchequer, was married in London this afternoon to Mr Joseph Ammanuel Appiah, a member of the Gold Coast’s Ashanti tribe. The bridegroom, a 32-year-old law student, is temporarily acting as gersonal representative of the Gold oast Prime Minister. His father, Mr J. W. R. Appiah, is chief secretary to the Ashanti confederacy. Appiah wore a toga-like robe resplendent in yellow, black, and green stripes. He wore sandals without socks on his feet. It was the traditional dress of his tribe.

Miss Cripps, a career girl and an active church member, wore a fullskirted gown of oyster white silk brocade, embroidered with tiny coral and gold tulip tree flowers. The wedding was held in St. John’s Wood Church of England parish church. A reception in Mayfair followed for the 400 guests. Some time in autumn Mr and Mrs Appiah will leave for Kumasi on the Gold Coast, where they will make their home.
