GROWERS’ PRICES FOR POTATOES
SEASONAL INCREMENT OF £1 A TON Seasonal increments in the price of potatoes, gazetted on Thursday, came into force yesterday. Prices to South Island growers are increased by £1 by the price order. The following prices are all prices a ton, on board, sacks extra, at South Island ports;— Good Undertable f.a.q. grade Suttons Supreme and King Edward .. £2l 10 £2l £2O Red Dakota £2l 5 £2O 15 £l9 15 Other varieties .. £2O 5 £l9 15 £lB 15 The prices for good table and f.a.q. grades are actual, and those for undergrade tubers maximum prices. Crossbred: 56’s, 98d; 50’s, 83d; 46’s, 81d. AYRSHIRES BRING RECORD PRICES (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTCN, July 17. A New Zealand record for all breeds was established at the thirteenth annual Ardgowan Ayrshire sale of J. G. Donald, Featherston, yesterday, when 18 rising yearling bulls averaged 265gns. Buyers were present from all parts of New Zealand and also from Australia. Top price was 600gns. MINING Gold Mines, N.Z., Ltd.—Two units of Gold Mines of New Zealand, Ltd., Ahahura and Kanieri, between them won a total of 763 ounces of gold in the first half of July. Arahura won 297 ounces of gold from 126,009 yards of material excavated in 242 hours. The Kanieri dredge return was 966 ounces from 112,000 yards of material excavated in 245 hours.—(F.O.O.R.) Snowy River.—For the fortnight ended yesterday, the dredge won 91 ounces of gold from 30,000 yards of material excavated in 268 hours.—(F.O.O.R.)
