MR HOLYOAKE REPLIES ~TO MR WALSH (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 17. The Acting-Prime Minister <Mr K. J. Holyoake) today denied that the Cabinet had “rejected out of hand” proposals by the Federation of Labour to bring about an earlier fixture for its wage hearing before the Court of Arbitration. The president of the federation (Mr F. P. Walsh) said yesterday that the Government had “rejected out of hand” proposals that were “fair and reasonable.”

Mr Holyoake said that he and the Cabinet had given the matter very careful consideration before reaching a decision.
